Judge James Fleetwood, of the 18th Judicial District in Kansas, presided over multiple hearings in my family’s case and repeatedly allowed parental alienation, medical neglect, and due process violations to go unpunished. Despite documented evidence, motions, and even a child case investigator’s involvement, his rulings consistently favored the mother of my children while sanctioning me for simply trying to protect them.

At a final hearing, motions were presented that included nine separate incidents of parental alienation and documented medical neglect after my children were diagnosed with parasites and blood in their stool by a Texas doctor. My attorney had filed supporting evidence, and even a child case investigator privately conferred with Judge Fleetwood during the proceeding. While no contempt was found against me, the mother was documented for parental alienation and medical neglect. Nevertheless, Judge Fleetwood allowed her to keep residential custody and ordered me to pay her $1,000 — labeling it a sanction — while removing past child support obligations I had accrued because I was forced to spend years paying attorneys to fight for my children.

In a second hearing, where I represented myself, I filed motions with clear evidence:

  • Burn marks on my son’s arm from hot water poured by the mother.

  • A request for DNA testing of a third child (clearly not mine, as both parents are Caucasian and the child is African-American).

  • Proof that the mother refused to provide her address, constituting a material change of circumstances.

  • Evidence that the children resided with a convicted felon for manufacturing methamphetamines.

  • Documentation that the mother intercepted nearly $6,000 from my business tax refund.

Despite filing evidence, transcripts show that Judge Fleetwood denied me due process by refusing to let me speak on my own motions. Instead of addressing the evidence, he accused me of “disturbing the court” and ordered me to pay my children’s mother’s attorney a $5,000 retainer every time I filed a motion. He denied my motions with prejudice, silencing any further arguments.

I filed a detailed mandamus petition to the Kansas Supreme Court, fully supported with factual evidence, documenting these due process violations. The Supreme Court denied the mandamus without explanation. Afterward, Judge Fleetwood recused himself from my case, leaving behind a record of judicial misconduct, parental rights violations, and systemic corruption.
